Capturing a timeless artwork of your beloved pet.
Capturing a timeless artwork of your beloved pet.
Every commission I create is a one-of-a-kind personalised drawing, time taken can vary depending on size, texture of fur/feathers etc, but each is given the same attention to detail and special care to recreate your pet in a unique portrait.
Please contact me to discuss what you have in mind for your drawing. I have a price list for standard sizes but I am also happy to give you a quote based on your particular needs where possible. Drawing commissions may be coloured pencil, charcoal or soft pastel dependant on what is most suitable. Custom frames can also be provided at an additional charge.
Emailing photos is generally the easiest way to provide the reference images, but if you require new photos and plan to be in the South Lakes area, we can arrange this by appointment and I can take photographs of your pet myself. It is vital that quality digital photographs are used, I can only create a picture that is as detailed as the photograph I am given.
The image is enlarged in order for me see the detail and to draw on a bigger scale, so tips to remember are:
1. Look for the reflections in the eyes/texture on the nose when you zoom in on your image. These are the details I am hoping to recreate in your portrait, so if you have these in your photograph then that is a great indicator for a suitable image.
2. The photography will work best in natural daylight, with the subject either outside or facing the direct light source (i.e. window). Even if you don't have a camera, mobile phones will take in far more detail in natural light as opposed to false lighting indoors.
3. I recommend for clients to email me as many images as you like, and we can discuss which will work best for your special commission. I specialise in portraiture, which means facial detail are crucial. Also consider a composition which best captures your pets expression and personality.
Having said that, I do understand that it is not always possible to take new photographs of a loved one and sometimes older photographs are all that is available to work from. I will always do my best to accept the challenge if I believe I can do your portrait justice with the photos available.
Once a portrait is completed, additional hand-signed prints can also be ordered for your loved ones for an additional charge, if I am notified before the portrait is framed.
A non refundable £50 deposit is required in advance, to secure your commission in my diary.
Please see below for standard size commission prices, tailored pricing for bespoke sizes can be discussed on request.
